So yesterday, during my 8 hour shift (I haven't done one is sooo long) I was on register for a bit, and I got an Indian couple with 5 WIC checks. For people who aren't familiar: Women Infants and Children. You get these "checks" that say you get 10 cans of similac, 12 oz frozen juice, gallon of milk, cheese, etc, that the state pays for. 2 of the check are for 10 cans each of similic (infant formula, I'm not meaning to sound condescending to the 3 people who read this, *I* never knew of these things before I worked at a groce store), 2 checks for a 12oz frozen juice and a gallon milk, and one more for a quart of milk and a 12 oz jiuce. You HAVE to do them separately, so it's tedious, and takes a LOT longer than just ringing up 2 gallons of milk, a qt, 3 juices, and 20 cans. You have to do what the check says, write the amount, put the "check" number in, put it in your till, move onto the next.... So you can imagine that a 25 item order isn't the 1.5 minutes it WOULD be, it becomes 5 minutes, 7 minutes...
ANYWAY. They leave, they're sweet as hell. Then this white couple, dumb angry-at-the-world-and-her-sagging-breasts-and-years-of-tanning bitch and an idiot in a mets shirt (I hate hating mets fans, he couldn't be a yankme fan?? I'm a Red Sox fan btw, but living in Jersey) come up and he says, "Jesus, get a fucking job!"
I just know he wouldn't say this if it was a white couple. It's because they're Indian. I don't know how I know, I just do.
Does he not realize the economic times we're in?? That thousands of people are *losing* their jobs, and that stores that have been prosperous for DECADES are closing their doors? Do you dare tempt fate? I'm not the type to wish hardship on others, but I will say that I kinda wish they knew how those "leeches" felt. Feel.
