Time for some @bloghomework! I think that this topic falls in line perfectly with some other blogs that I've written recently. (See it here) What's your confidence boosting secret weapon? Ok @missy, @lyxzen, and @rambo, here it is.
Love yourself.
That's it. I know it sounds simple, but with a lot of the body shaming that people are subjected to over their lives (both direct and indirect through marketing of popular products or beauty standards of Hollywood) it can be tough to love the skin you're in. But, you can do it. Be brave.
It takes work. I know, because I've had to work hard to do it. But now that I've been making a conscious effort to love myself, I've been happier and *gasp of surprise* more confident!
Here are some tips that have helped me, and I hope that they help someone else too:
1) When you wake up in the morning, look at yourself and smile. Say "hello gorgeous" or something else positive. Yes, you'll feel silly, and yes, you'll probably laugh. But, starting the day with a compliment to yourself and a little laugh can really put you in a good mood.
2) If you don't like something about yourself, change it. I have to thank @hixon for the support on this one. Even though a lot of you have said I look so confident in my latest set, I was carrying some extra pounds and it made me feel a little bad about myself even though I loved the set and thought it was beautiful. (You can see the set here) When I was complaining about the way I felt to her, she said simply "then do something about it". She was right. Gym time and healthy eating were a healthy way to do that. I'm a work in progress, but I feel better (and more confident) now that I'm doing something about it!
3) Don't let the negativity of others drown out your own voice. Ok, that's stealing from Steve Jobs a little. He said "Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice" and he's right. You need to be you if you are really going to be confident, and you need to be proud of who you are. If someone makes a negative comment about you, don't let it bring you down. If you strive to focus on the good in you, and the good in your life, then soon the negative won't have room and you'll be a happier, more confident you.
Lastly, and this is really just for me. Seeing other babes who are confident helps me to focus on being confident in myself. Take @soraleia and @hixon for example. Yes, they're very special to me, but one of the reasons they are is because of how confident they are. You can see what I mean by visiting their sets. They both look so strong and confident, I love it! (See Soraleia here, and Hixon here)
The great thing about SuicideGirls is that there are thousands of women here who are confident. Inspiration to be yourself and be confident lies around every corner of this amazing site. How lucky are we to have confident role models available at our fingertips?
I saw this on the SG Facebook page and it's so true to this post. (See more here, because if you haven't liked their page yet, you should.)
Thanks for reading this lengthy blog. What tips do you have for being confident? Tell me all about it in the comments.
