My parents are coming tonight. In less than an hour I have to drive to the airport to go get them. I've been looking forward to them coming to visit for a while now especially since they haven't been in LA since the wedding. But at the same time I can't help but feel the vomiting butterflies in my stomach.
On the subject of the 'rents without talking about them coming here anymore....their 25th wedding anniversary is coming in April. My parents got married on 4-20 with I'm hoping doesn't really have anymore meaning than the day they took their vows but then again my parents were products of the 60's. My brother and I thought it would be a great idea to send them to Hawaii for a 2nd honeymoon. You see my parents got married kinda young and just about 9 months after they got married...I was born...that isn't much time to enjoy your married life. And I'm pretty sure that their honeymoon was spent at the local holiday inn. Fancy huh? So, we are going to surprise them. They have no clue on what is happening. My dad called me the other day to see if we were going to make it to the scottish games this year. I asked him the dates and it's exactly the same time as the trip to hawaii. My dad has really really been looking forward to the games this year because he has this $600+ kilt that he had made in scotland mailed to him just last month and tomorrow we are going to Long Beach to visit that little village place right near the queen mary so my dad can pick up some kilt socks. He is so freaking excited about it. I told him we are going to the games this year but really it's just the excuse we are going to use to be in town during that time. About a week before the trip my family is going to have a hawaiian bbq to break the surprise to my parents when they get off work. I know my dad will be a little disappointed about the games but seriously...the games are the same every year and he is getting an all expenses paid trip to hawaii for 5 days with his wife. I'm thinking if he complains....he loses a finger.
Anyway, they just called me to tell me that their flight was delayed...no doubt having to do with all the crappy rain we've had.
And by the look of my dad's shirt...this picture was even taken at last years games....SIGH!

Regardless, have a great visit with your parents, don't let it get you worked up.
