I guess it may just be the location but my work is getting creepier and creepier. There are always the weirdos that come in about an hour before we close and they are just starved for attention or something because they never buy anything they just cause trouble. Then there are the creepies who come into the store and ask for me when I'm not there. I don't know what that's about. There is this one guy in particular who always says hi to me and asks my name and the other day he asked if I was seeing anyone. Yesterday there was a guy who was buying a slang dictionary and I commented how I love reading those because some of the definitions or origins are hilarious. He took that as me coming on to him because he asked me "the next time I'm in the store do you think you could help me find some more?" Um...no i'm a cashier..I take your money and act like I give a crap about your day...that's all. Then he proceeded to tell me that I might have to keep a look out for him because he would mostlikely forget what I look like on a count of his bad memory.
I really like my job don't get me wrong. but in the words of one of my favorite movies Clerks..."this job would be great if it weren't for the fucking customers."
If its not the weirdos its the assholes. The people who think that the employees are personal shoppers for them or we are unfeeling robots. Had a guy the other day come in and tell me that I wasn't doing my job because I was wrapping another customer's purchase and not ringing him up. I mean shit. I don't go to his work and slap the dick out of his mouth and tell him how to do his job. He actually came in again just recently and got pissed because he had to wait in line. He made it a point to try to rally the other customers waiting to put their purchases down and just leave.
I gotta get to work by 4:30 today. It's gonna be a long night. 4:30-1am is not a pretty shift.
