A few of you already know what happened yesterday but for those of you who are not on my FB friends list...
I was walking up to my house with groceries. Across the street, a gardener was mowing my neighbor's lawn. Suddenly there was a very loud noise right in front of me. It echoed in the house. I couldn't tell what it was at first. David met me at the door because he heard it too. That's when we saw the hole in the metal security door. Dave pulled a metal sprinkler head out of the door. It made a hole in the door and got stuck. Across the street the gardener had stopped mowing and was looking at the mower because he heard the horrible noise it made. I ran across the street and brought him over to see our door. I started to shake and feel sick when I realized that the chunk of metal (kind of the size of a lug nut) could have gone into me. From where I was standing the hole in the door is head level. After getting the gardener to agree to pay for another security door for us I went back inside and had myself a drink and I took a bath to calm down. I then proceeded to cry myself to sleep last night. The odds of this even happening unthinkable. There was only one metal sprinkler left in my neighbor's yard. It somehow arced over both of our cars and went into the only part of the house that is easily replaced...and didn't touch me. I'm one lucky girl right now.
