Well, it has started and as some of you well know, my sweet John is there in Kuwait. I sat up all night glued to the television, unable to sleep. Just mezmorized. Sick. He feels the same way, just sick that he has to participate.
They have asked him to re-up for another 6 years after his current term is over (In 4 years.) but he has grown dissatisfied with this government. He doesn't believe in this war. He risks himself for a cause he does not believe in. So, disgusted, in fact, that he decided to take a civilian job in Germany as soon as his term is up. He wants no more of this country, so we will leave it.
My roomate is ranting and raving his bizarre conspiracey theories. I won't repeat them here. I feel my heart breaking apart. For my John, for the Iraqi people, for our country. Save us from this president.
Check out the Iraqi blog mentioned on the main page of SG. It was amazingly insightful. I keep checking back.

I am sorry to hear about John, I have a freind who is in Kuwait also, but sadly, we cannot find her or have heard from her in many weeks. This war does suck, but I feel that it was bound to happen eventually, if not now, it may have happened at some other time, possibly a time in which Iraq becomes stronger and the chance of losing even more civilian and military casualties would be greater.

That sounds awful, but I suppose at the end of the day it's what he signed up for... to do the miliatry good for his country, no matter how insane or politically and humanitarially wrong it is. I wish him safe and that he'll be back with you soon.
