Back in the city. Back with the sirens. Back home.
Thursday morning we got up early (but not early enough to get good spots) to see the Macy's Day Parade. I got a pretty good view of Kermit's butt before he headed out along route. It was exciting nonetheless as the crowds and marching bands put me in a very good mood.
Thanksgiving dinner later that afternoon was equally pleasant, spending time with my NY family and their friends.
The adventures kicked off the next day as we headed upstate to the Massachusetts border to a the Bash Bish Waterfalls. Great hike, and my first real views of the Catskills since I've moved out here
We came home and got smashed on wine with the family and scarfed down a bunch of pizza. Mmmm, New York pizza is certainly growing on me.
I was going to head back into the city on Saturday, but was convinced to head north once again and we went to the historical home of Frederic Church - OLANA What an experience, this guy new where and how to build a house. let along furnish it. I'm almost positive my future home will have elements from what I saw there.
We stayed for a breathtaking sunset (Sunsets in Nebraska take up the whole sky, but out here there is water for them to reflect on) and my sightseeing discoveries came to an end.
Until I find something to do next weekend of course

One thing you and your wife may want to try now that you are here in NY either this year or next is Santacon.
It can be a lot of fun. It is bar crawl with everyone dressed up for the holidays.
We have enjoyed it in the past.
However, admittedly we aren't going this year for 2 reasons: 1. With the economy the way it is people see to drink cause they are angry instead of drinking to have fun (a convo we have had with a couple of bartenders) and 2. cause with OWS and such we are afraid of protests and arrests happening. We could be totally wrong, but we aren't going to go this year. Probably we will go again next year.
