This week's blog homework actually coincides with the death of my hero and a rock and roll legend. RIP Lemmy 💜

My initial love and admiration for Lemmy Kilmister was for his complete and total badassery. The man was a picture perfect rockstar to me. Loud music, speed, whiskey, a fuck you attitude- you couldn't get any cooler than that. I'll never forget seeing Motorhead (for the first and unfortunately last time) when I was 18 years old. My best friend and I were on the front row, being crushed into the guard railing by the crowd behind us. The music was so loud, the energy was absolutely insane, and it was without question one of the best nights of my life, and the best show I've ever been to (and I've been to A LOT). I didn't fully get it until I got a little older though, and saw him as the kind man full of wisdom and an undying love for rock and roll. It's like, every time the guy opened his mouth he said something profound or inspiring (or sometimes just funny). I watched a documentary about him a few years ago, and I remember hearing him say, while sitting in his quaint little Los Angeles apartment full of shit he'd collected over the years, "You can't have everything. Where would you put it all?" I realized, man, this guy just gets it. And I've kind of lived my life by a lot of his philosophies since. Here are some of my favorite quotes from him:
"I don't do regrets. Regrets are pointless. It's too late for regrets. You've already done it, haven't you? You've lived your life. No point wishing you could change it."
"Apparently people don’t like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bullshit, then maybe just once, one of them will say, ‘Oh! Wait a minute — I was wrong.’ I live for that happening. Rare, I assure you."
"My ethic is: ‘Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die.’ You can be as careful as you want, but you’re going to die anyway, so why not have fun?”
You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools, but that's the way I like it baby, I don't wanna live forever.
