Since the introduction of Social Media on the internet, reality as we know it has changed. We seem to put more effort into polishing our online personas, creating engaging content on our profiles and posting manipulated photos than tending to our actual lives and the people in it. We much prefer typed conversations and the anonymity of the screen and are losing our appreciation of

The other day I was sitting on the stairs outside the local art centre reading Russell Brand’s Revolution when an English bloke walked by and jokingly said, Catching up with some Brand? We had a quick banter and the conversation ended with the suited, twenty-something-year old walking off saying Brand’s the man. The comment made me feel weirdly proud for a second; Aahw, did

Bernard Black – Black Books

Bernard may come across like a grumpy old fart, but really, it’s just because he’s hungover all the time. He’s the world’s worst businessman and literally seems to scare clients off with his dishevelled look, his tousled black hair and his genuinely apathetic expression. Those who really know him however, understand that you just need to see Bernard as a

I'd love to drink with Cokie Smurf. Bernard would be quiet as long as you kept him topped off. You'd have to leave once the wine ran out. I have only. Have never heard of Green wing till this post... Must download everything they have done now. I would love to drink with the browncoats

With so many amazing shows to choose from these days, it’s hard not to get addicted to at least a few. Unlike movies, shows give you the chance to really connect with their characters. These are characters we follow for several years and by the time the season’s finale comes around, we feel as though we can call the cast our friends.

We yelled at

Perfect! Glad Veronica Mars made it on your list. Unfortunately they ruined the show here in Germany by putting it on TV at 11pm on a weekday, so it did not get the recognition it deserved.

No love for Fiona Gallagher from Shameless? Holding together a family of 6 because her drunk, deadbeat dad is too busy finding his next fix, while still trying to make something with her life while dealing with her own personal problems. That's strength if I've ever seen it.

Following the success of her 2008 novel Wetlands and her 2011 novel Wrecked, few of us fear to get to know the woman behind these “disgustingly pornographic” books; most of us, however, are dying to learn more about this quirky, outspoken TV presenter and inspirational writer.

Charlotte Roche has done it all. She shaved her head way before Britney Spears set the trend, played

Civok, so true, that was pretty uncalled for. I was a bit torn about Herre's reaction though; I get why he walked off for second, but it would have been better if he had given her a taste of her own medicine ;) I love the show though, such a shame that it was cancelled. The episode with Britt the talk-show host was brilliant and I really liked what Böhmermann was trying to bring across. And yes, completely agree about her fight against the BILD. Have you read Wrecked? I always knew the BILD was a disgusting publication with scumbag journalists writing for them, but I never understood just HOW scummy they were until I read Wrecked.

@roxannesancto Honestly, I completely understood Herre's reaction to walk off the stage. I wouldn't want to have a crosstalk with Roche either, because there is no chance to "win". She is so quick at repartee, how could he have responded, without looking like a complete ass in the end? In case of Britt/Böhmermann I have a slightly different opinion (Jesus... why do we even remember single talkshow episodes of Böhmermann/Roche, aired 1 or 2 years ago? We are sick...) . Did he really expect to crack the armor of a TV-pro like Britt? He should have gone even further and try to get a reply from her, that she would regret afterwards, but he wimped-out, when things got interesting. In the end, Britt seemed to be the victim. He should have tried harder to demask her as the stone-cold TV-host, only looking for the viewer rate, that she really is. And no, I didn't read Wrecked so far, but it's on my SUB (is there an english term for all the books you own and plan to read?). Her personal relation to BILD was a big issue in a wonderful portrait of her in the magazin Der Spiegel (or Stern, I do not remember), a couple of years ago, that really raised my sympathy for her.
