So I am torn... Do I buy a new car or spend a few thousand dollars on my current one to get it to where it's tolerable?
The car I want, 2001 or newer BMW M3 (gave up on the Crossfire SRT6).. $30,000 easy... Has the power, performance, and look I desire...
Things my car needs (it's only a 2004)...
1) Rear bumper fixed/replaced - there's a crack down the center from someone riding tailgating me and then lightly rear ending me ($500+)
2) I will need a new convertible top by summer, it's sagging and a small hole is already developing in it.. From what, I don't know.. $700+
3) Get my center consol area re-vinyled, the heat from this past summer did some major damage (despite the sun shield I put up religiously) - $100+
4) The dome around the gauges ($100+)
5) Fix dinged rim or buy new one ($200+)
6) New paint some day, nose of the car is chipped up badly -- Miatas are notorious for that ($3000+)
Mechanical...
1) New metal piping to my blow off valve ($100+)
2) New blow off valve ($100+)
3) Upgraded intercooler ($300+)
4) Ideal -- some bolt ons ($500+ easy)
5) Speakers have a high pitched noise that changes with the acceleration of the car, gives me a head ache ($ who knows?)
Things I don't like about my car that I won't be able to really change..
1) It's a cloth topped convertible.. I've grown out of it.. I am tired of it.. I want a coupe with a moon roof
2) The seats aren't very comfortable
3) I want an automatic transmission or tiptronic (preferrably).. Yes I wanna be lazy damnit!!
Things I love about my car...
1) The look of the car itself.. It is a fantastic lookin' car when it's all clean and shined up
Beyond that.. It's not fast enough.. the handling is good, but nothing "I" gawk about.. I know there is better out there, but they aren't necessarily affordable..
So, what do I do??
