ok, kiddos, bunch 'o stuff happening lately...
first, i'm moved into my new pad. there's still some unpacking to do, but it's pretty cool. it's nice and secluded, there's a bigger room for syd, and it's a much better deal than my last place. the only drawbacks so far are the size (it's a bit tiny) and the fact that i don't control the heat. we'll see how that goes once winter rolls around again.
also, i got fired from my crappy deli job. that's actually a good thing as they saved me the trouble of having to quit. the place was a joke and i absolutely hated working with the Dutch bitch in the mornings. no offence meant to any of you who might be Dutch, but damn, she was a humourless cunt! the job thing isn't so bad because the t-shirt sales are running ok and i have another large order to fill. working, working, working...
i entered a couple of paintings in the annual student exhibition and, lo and behold, one of them won a museum docent award. i'm not quite sure what a docent is but i'm pretty sure it has something to do with rich, old white people. anyway, that very same painting also sold to a couple here in norman who are fast becoming my steady patrons. won't they clean up when i tragically blow my brains out whilst high on smack!
i also found out today that i got the job at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute. it's like a summer camp for artsy fartsy kids. this time i'm no mere lackey, however, but the Drawing and Printmaking Liason. boo. ya. there's $1700 i didn't have before and all for spending two weeks in the mountains among the best and brightest young artists in the state. rough, eh?
finally, despite my best laid plans, it looks as though i will be graduating in December. my dreams of perpetual studentdom are drawing to a close. i am ready for it though. it's hard to get your career going full steam when you have to worry about 19th century art history at 9:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays. guess i better start building some more canvasses!
hope things are going well for everybody. Xip, i'm still waiting for some reasons why. oh, and Chelsea, keep rockin' it, babe. you're awesome!
cheers, all.
