Well, I just got back from seeing Hairbangers Ball. A 80's metal cover band. For some reason these guys are real popular here. THing is it was in a big college type bar. My scene is the small dirty bars, this was like the jock preppie hangout. I had to wait in line for like two hours and put up with drunk jocks yelling and bumping into me. It's like college produces all these cookie cutter kids who all look and act alike. So I went to hang out with my friend since high school, Sami. She ended up having to babysit some annoying friend of hers. So I pretty much spent the evening leaning against the wall in the back watching all these drunk frat boys and sorority girls sing along to Motley Crue covers. I forgot what a meat market college was. God I sound old. I never really did fit in in college. And I guess I still don't.
On a good note the other night I saw a great local punk band "The Hangarounds" and some interesting german cabaret thing from Boston, "The Dresden Dolls". The lead singer sounded a lot like Fiona Apple or someone along those lines. Very cool stuff. Its so good to be back in the states since I can go see a band like every night. Since i've been back i've probably seen over 10 bands and they've all been pretty decent.

I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm apart from everything else everytime I return to the States. For one thing, I'm compelled to hang out in the background and just observe everyone, since it's been so long since I've seen, well... Americans... acting like Americans. And, yeah, it can get irritating.
