Today I read a biography of Serge Gainsbourg, who was so enamoured of alcohol that he allowed it to kill him, in the end.
The French filmmaker Jacques Doillon described Gainsbourg as 'un suicidaire optimiste', which makes you think, I guess, re. your comments.

My trip to NG on 14/10 is in jeopardy, unless you're up for a lunchtime pint or something, in which case I might throw caution to the wind and come anyway. Otherwise, I'm now looking at the weekend of 28 October.
