I haven't updated in a really long time and therefore much has happened. I am not really even sure where to start. I guess one of the nicest things that has happened to me as of late is that I am now officially dating the deliciously skinny guitar god that has been mentioned in previous posts. He is quite sweet and very funny, which is just the way I like it. His job keeps him away for 2 weeks and then we get 5 days of QT. This is bittersweet as I miss him like crazy, but do have time to work on my masters and just be me. I gave up a lot of who I am and what I love for my ex and I vowed never to let that happen again. Therefore the strange work schedule is actually great for me as it gives me a nice adjustment period so that I can get used to being a GF again, but still have plenty of time for me and my friends. I am currently helping him house shop here in Saskatoon as he thinks it is a good investment. His relocating for me is rather exciting but scary at the same time due to the concerns previously mentioned.
I guess I shouldn't worry too much though as since we have been dating my marks have remained high and I have had many a fun girl-time excursions while he has been away. The ladies and I recently attended a Heart concert. We figured for sure everyone would be dressed up, so we threw on our skinny jeans, ripped up zeppelin t-shirts and leopard print boots and stormed the coliseum. However when we got there we realized that the only other people in the building were dirty older men ogling us and their sullen wives glaring at us. Oh well we kicked out to the best of Anne and Nancy Wilson and had a crazy good time. At the end of the night as we were leaving this washed up band groupie came up to me and told me that I was much too young to be wearing my leopard skin "come fuck me boots". I had to inform her that although I have braces and lack her used/leathered skin I am indeed 22yrs old and indeed old enough to be wearing my boots. She then told me about how she doesn't shop at Walmart, to which I laughed hysterically. If she shops anywhere else, then she is paying way too much to look that cheap. I didn't say anything though as the aforementioned leopard skin boots didn't really have me looking much classier.
Halloween was the next big excursion without the boy and was also quite successful. Me and my best s'toon girl dressed up as half eaten cats to accessorize her boyfriend who was in a full-on mascot style ALF costume (he even had oversized knife and fork). Nobody really got it. I guess Saskatchewan didn't have cable in the 80's or something.
Our friends went as the DQ waffle bowl and soft serve and won first prize at the cabaret we attended. Our other lady friend went as a small town grain elevator and won 2nd. It was a very well done grain elevator lol.
Not only am I happy to be succeeding at continuing my fun group activities without the boy, but I am also happy that he is very copasetic hanging out in groups when he is home. I had to plan an interdepartmental pubcrawl for the grad students and it ended up being an 80's prom theme. Me and my best s'toon lady (we are pretty much inseparable) dressed up in super trashy neon colors and should pads as would be expected. However finding a good 80's suite for the boy was a bit more difficult. Therefore he went as my 30yr old trailer dwelling, GnR loving, fuck authority boyfriend who just happened to be cool enough to come to my high school prom. The outfit was complete with a mullet wig, an overly tight wife-beater and some lucky lager. My other friends dressed up very 80's geek style and walked around with the Flashdance soundtrack on vinyl. I think it was a success. Unfortunately the boy and I had a meeting with a realtor early the next morning. I was therefore in mad scramble at about dawn to try and pry off the gaudy $2 nails that had seemed like a wise idea the night before.
Things have quieted down lately though and the boy is flying in tonight again so all in all I am happy. Next on my agenda is a cat hunt as my apartment just isn't alive enough with me and my plants. Plus having a cuddly little purr monster to share the bed with while the boy is away does sound enticing.
