Lately I have become ridiculously optimistic. I have been thinking about some of the super shitty events that have happened recently in my life and there is not one that hasn't in some way ended in a positive twist. Lets review the 2006/07 year:
1) I moved 5 times in one year due to landlord problems, roommate problems, all together shitty houses etc.
Positive twist: I have recently moved into a one bedroom suite within walking distance to everything I need (including the uni). It is bright, clean, modern etc. and I love it.
2) One bedroom suite floods 2 days after I move in.
Positive Twist: Nothing very important was damaged and now I get free carpet cleaning.
3) Last December during my last final exam of the semester some pathetic soul stole my backpack. This resulted in bad cheques being written on my account, my student loans needed to be cancelled and reordered and I had to work 2 part time jobs (40ish hrs some weeks) to earn enough money to live. I also had 5 classes (at least 3 having labs) and a thesis to contend with. I survived on bar food and about 3-5hrs of sleep a night.
Positive Twist:
- bad cheques resulted in a tag on my credit report thus making it virtually impossible for me to get a credit card, so now I can not put myself in debt shoe shopping yet can still order books from amazon with paypal
- when my student loans were reordered it took until march for them to come in. By which time I was already self sufficient with my enourmous amounts of part-time work and tips. Therefore the student loan money paid for a bunch of new clothes and a super awesome trip to California to see Rage Against the Machines reunion concert at Coachella Music Festival in April. This also allowed me some much needed QT with my big bro (marksman303) and the rinstar before she moved to San Diego with her man candy.
- While the incredibly busy schedule did drop my average just enough that I lost Great Distinction (by 0.2%), I still graduated with Distinction and won several awards for my thesis and overall academic achievement. While I would normally be proud of this it made it extra special since I had been through so much that semester and worked soooo much harder than I ever have in my entire life. It showed me what I am capable of and I am a more confident person because of it.
4) My car broke down one week before I moved into my glorious one bedroom apartment.
Positive Twist:
-I got to borrow my friends extended cab pick up and a few buddies from the lab came out to help me move. We were done in 2.5hrs. It would have taken me all day to do it in my car and I still would have had to borrow a truck for the furniture.
- I am now getting a much needed new car from my stepdads auto repair business that is much better on gas and will be much more reliable (it is also dark purple, a color that looks fantastic on me lol). My parents are now also forced to come visit me in S'toon to deliver said car. This is super exciting as they have only ever been here once before and they were helping me move (one of the 5 last year) so I didn't get to show them around at all. S'toon is an absolutely beautiful place to live and I can't wait to show it off!!
So now that you all despise me for being disgustingly cheery and optimistic on a Monday morning, I will leave you with my latest negative. I was very bored and lonely this weekend and the other tenants in my building hogged the laundry machines all weekend. Oh well I will wait for the positive twist I suppose.....

also, i would be SUPER pumped if you visited! i don't know if you got the memo, but i should be living in victoria next summer, keep your eyes peeled!
i wish a little pepin would show up on your doorstep like he did on mine. that would be brilliant but at least with shelter cats they already have their shots and whatnot.
i've been dreaming about home too. i'm guilty about not spending more time there when i could and instead trying to pacify my bosses by not taking more time off. i also feel guilty because one grandparent on each side is suffering from dementia and i feel like time is growing short. geez, why don't i just write you a damn letter? i think i will.
