I don't think that I have ever blogged about a cat before. It seems to be an awfully popular subject that all true bloggers delve into so here goes.
Rose's First Cat Blog: Take One
I think I may have acquired a cat!! I have no idea if I am actually a cat person or not because I have never actually owned one. I mean I have lived with them before, but I have never belonged to a cat. My father had farm cats and I lived for awhile with rinstars infamous Misty Blue Cat and we seem to get along well. I know that I am good with horses, cattle, dogs, rabbits etc so I can only assume I will be good with a cat.
Anyways, last night we took in a purebred siamese kitten (soooo little) so that we can decide if we belong to each other or if maybe she will belong to my roomie who already owns a cat. She stayed in my room last night as my roomies cat, Snugs, seems to HATE her and we were scared Snuggles would attempt to make a snack of this poor kitten in the quiet unsupervised hours that night provides. I was a little worried having a kitten sleep in my room as I think kittens are supposed to be rather rambunctious little beasts. This however was not the case as she behaved like a perfect little house guest. She played quietly with a string on the floor for a half hour after I turned the lights out and then very politely hopped on the bed and made herself a designated sleeping area on the pillow next to mine. She is my favorite little purr machine. I think I have fallen in lub. She woke up at the first alarm sound (there will be about 4 more after this as I am unfortunately addicted to the snooze button lately) and we had a good time playing and snuggling for another 30min until I was fully awake enough to shower. She then decided that we do indeed belong to each other and followed me around the house all morning to prove it. She is currently at home locked in my room and I can't stop thinking about her. She is so endearing. Oooh and she already uses a litter box so that is an awesome plus.
In other news I may have found a perfect one bedroom suite in my price range and only 4 blocks from school.
It is small but cozy and they will allow cats which is good news for me and the siamese that may now own me. I am pretty happy about it. I am unfortunately not done house shopping yet though. I have volunteered to find housing for a new German PhD student arriving mid-august and an Israeli visiting student coming for 6 weeks in the fall. I am very excited to have new people in our lab and can only hope that this German is as interesting as the last was. I have really taken a liking to all the visiting students. There is never a dull moment when you hang out with foreigners. I went to a crepe party on Friday night hosted by authentic French folks serving authentic crepes. It was a deliciously good time. Our soccer team has also greatly improved due to all the visiting students. Apparently Canadians do not know how to play soccer nearly as well as Europeans.
On a completely unrelated note Saturday night I was strapped in to a corset for the very first time in my life! Me and a good friend from work/school planned to go to a bunch of bars in town to sell candy necklaces to support our dragon boat team for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Well it turns out this friend of mine makes and designs custom corsets on the side to supplement her measly grad student stipend. Since she does most of her advertising through word of mouth we decided to dress up in her corsets and do a little advertising whilst fund raising. She decided that we would draw the most attention to our cause if we dressed up in her costume style corsets. She ended up wearing an army style corset with matching mini and knee high boots and strapped me into a leopard print kitty outfit complete with matching ears, fishnets and stilletos. We definately did draw attention and ended up raising $230 for charity selling necklaces (not by selling our bodies to the night in case anyone was wondering). I will post pictures when/if I get some as there were a few taken that night I believe.
Anyways back to work. I want to work very hard so I can go home and get some QT in with kitten before I have to go for dinner with a friend. Maybe I will invite her over for dinner as kitten will already have been home alone all day and I don't really want to leave her alone again. lub dub all!

i'm gunning for you to get that cute 1 bedroom! it is so sweet that the kitten has fallen in love wiht you. i hope things continue in that vein and you get your first cat! i know you would be a great cat mom.
it is exciting that you raised so much money on saturday night! i am really looking forward to seeing photos of you being all dressied up.
As for the goats, I am NOT goatist. It's just that the 5 goats I already own (from people bringing them to past parties and leaving them "by accident") get really jealous and start tearing shit up whenever a new goat arrives on the scene.
Anyways, you better hurry up and post pictures of you two in corsets AND the kitty.
