Ok, so second post in one day, very self indulgent, I know. But I need help.
I found this letter earlier:
"Dear No. 15.
Hi, I'm one of your neighbours from upstairs (no. 16). I think you should know that these flats aren't very...soundproof. And noises from yours at time, even just talking, can sound to us as though you're in the flat! Which is unavoidable, however, last night I could hear every moan, bed rock and spank, which also woke up my two year old niece. I've written this in a note to avoid embarressmet, but I would really appreciate it if you could be a bit more aware of how loud you and and how disturbing it is for others.
No hard feelings"
Ok, so admittedly I laughed my tits off after reading it, clearly from an encounter last week (relevant blog to come), but I only saw it today, what with being away all weekend and then being ill. Now, I only moved in a few months a go and clearly don't wish to upset the neighbours, equally I don't want to compromise my sex life.
Here's where I need your help - do you have any ideas on how to dampen the sound? I have no neighbours other than the one above, so people either side aren't an issue, but I don't want to have to get worried in the heat of the moment that I might upset someone. Only idea I have so far is to move my bed away from the wall a bit. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
THANKYOU!!!

He said that he was ripping up the floor boards to out down insulation so that he would not upset the neighbours. I was perplexed by his response, but it soon became obvious that he had issues. That factoid does not help answer your question, but lets just say that your use of the flat is perfectly normal and reasonable.
Your neighbours expectations are set too high for the type of property you live in.
Suggest that she invests in some of these!
