Well lookie here I am off on a Sunday. And I'm still awake so I'm gonna try & catch part of the sg radio show. That way I dont have to wait a year so I can download it.
Anywho, I went to the gym earlier tonight to work out. I used to swim a while back but havent done anything in a while. I was on the bike for like 20 minutes. Damn I swear my legs were going to fall off. The reason I started working out is cause I have my physical test for the City Fire Departmen friday. There really is no way to prepare for this test. Except make sure you dont tire out quickly & keel over & croak. So I figured a week before should be enough time. I'll be doing mostly cardio stuff. I hate jogging alot. But I need to learn to like it. Or at least deal with it decently.
I worked last night & got to do 5 calls. 4 of those calls were all hook ups. Pretty busy night considering I work for a private company. And most of our calls come from nursing homes. Anyway we had this 100 year old lady who wouldnt let us touch her. She was feisty as hell & was cussing us out. She was dehydrated but was ok overall. The 2nd lady was pretty bad though. She had a lot of fluid in her lungs. So we really needed an iv in order to give her some medicine. I tried the 1st one & missed & let my partner get it. We got it & well that medicine works so quick she pissed on the stretcher. Which was ok cause she was laughing. She couldnt even speak in full sentences at 1st. So laughing was all good.
The 3rd guy was worst of all. He was a diabetic & his blood sugar was 25. Most people have a normal range of anywhere between 80 -120. So 25 for a diabetic is really bad. Once the blood sugar gets so low these people pretty much sleep & never wake up. This guy was snoring away when we got there. He didnt flinch when I stuck him to check his sugar. Anyway point being is we got the iv right there in the room & gave him medicine. He woke up & came around in like a minute. He was up & talking to us. So we saved another life. Now we dont usually start iv's in the nursing home or homes of people we pick up. We usually wait til we get in the ambulance cause the lighting is so much better.
So when we do that it's cause it's pretty urgent. The other hook up I swore was going to end up being the big one. Considering how our calls went from bad to worse. From one patient to the next. But it wasn't all that bad though.
Oh & I saw Mr & Mrs Smith last night. My partner had the bootleg of it. Good movie lots of action in it. And Brad's & Angelina's characters have a quirky relationship. Definitely had some funny scenes in it. And a really hot scene as well. Will most likely buy it when it comes out on dvd.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
