Geez, finally, I can access the site! 
That's the second time that's happened... 'page cannot be displayed', I delete all my cookies/temp files etc.. nothin'. No one else has a problem. Then, magically, it works. 
Anyway, not much time for a *real* update... but I will take this time to say that damn, I make a good veggie-millet curry! Or, at least, I follow a good recipe.

Tools > Internet Options... > Connections > LAN Settings... > uncheck "Automatically detect settings"
this fix worked for me and a few others in Victoria. maybe it'll solve your connection problem.

that fix has cruised around here from journal to journal over the past few months as needed. i think it was Tiamat who got it from a call to her cable guy!
anyway, i hope it works...
