Jose was aces. As expected. He started laughing thru the start of one song. He blamed it on the potatoe shaped shaker which the purcussion player was using. I think he forgot the words tho.
I was fine going to the gig. I felt alot better. The minute I sat down in the auditorium, I started sneezing and my head felt like I was still in the car. I must have pissed the people sitting next to me off a treat. But, fuck it. Its not like I am ever gonna see them again. Anyways they where taking pictures on their phones every five minutes. It was like been at a photo shoot. They didn't even have the decency to switch the *click* sound off.
Jose did covers of Kylie: Put your hand on your heart and Massive Attack: Teardrop. Both where excelently executed. That was his first encore. His second encore was Heartbeats and Crosses. Everyone knew he was gonna do Heartbeats as for his encore. Its the standed "keep em waiting" method. Some loser at the back of the auditorium shouted for it when he came back on stage. Yeah, way to ruin it GEEK.
I missed the first support band and caught the second, Midaircondo. My friend described them as "Bjork Farting". He only stayed for two or three songs tho. The rest of the set turned into a CocoRosie type affair. It was OK. Nothing to buy a t-shirt about tho.
When I got back home, I went to get chips. My friend had been to see Battles in London last night, and called me up to boast that he has seen them more times than I. At the begining of our conversation there was no one in the kebab shop. By the end, it was full of young scallys who had been to see the Artic Monkeys (who where also playing in Hull). I had to wait till the kebab and chip brigade had got there fodder before getting mine.
I would fully recomend seeing Jose live. He can't half bash his bass strings.
