So the previous blog was from the day we landed. This is Day 1 of actually going out and touring the island. Technically it's the third day of the trip as on the first day, we flew in to Ecuador and spent the night there. The second day, what I am calling day 0, is when we flew to the Galapagos and relaxed a day. Thus the third day being day 1.
Day 1
Early morning, 5:30 AM...it's still dusk and I catch this blue heron. I'm up early and just grabbed the camera. I could clean this up with photoshop but the blue on blue light effect is beautiful:
Later that morning, before we leave, the sea lions are sleeping on our dock...this is pretty much every morning but different sea lions different days:
Debarking on South Plaza island, greeted by a baby sea lion:
The islands are literally crawling with these harmless but spectacularly colored crabs:
This island is inhabited by these yellow iguanas...in fact every island we go to either has these yellow land iguanas that eat cactus fruit or the giant black marine iguanas.
And the top of the island, which was quite a hike in 90 degree weather with no shade, you can overlook cliffs that are home to thousands of sea birds...here's one. More on next blog!
Lava cliffs, swirling turquoise waters and magnificent large sea birds...
