Rorschachs Journal 07/19/2010
Sorry for such a long journal last time! I promise to keep this one shorter. I just had so much I wanted to share.
Conventions
Only a few more days before ComicConits the first time in a long time that Im going and am actually excited about it! But to be quite honest, my main motivation for going is to meet a certain someone here on SGnot sure if I will be able to pull that off but one can hope.
Im also making plans to try to show up to some other showswell see.
Also, that show I was supposed to do last weekend, the guy in charge of organizing getting my space flaked out. I kinda figured that was going to happen but I still have to pick up the pieces, coordinating with my helpers and keeping spirits up. No biggie for me thoughIm super busy this month anyway and it will be better if I can do this stuff in August.
Real Life Stuff
For those of you whove been my SG friend throughout my current tenure, youll know from my past blogs that I assisted on a photo shoot of the super-cute Aaliyah Love. (You know who Im talking about, Scott!) Well, lo and behold she turned out to be much more than just a web girl, shes also an uber-geek girl too. And she is now dating my photog pal (Jay). They recently did some small sets and heres one of the pics he sent me:
This is shot on site in Santa Barbara, where Jay used to live. Its difficult to stop looking at this picture *sigh*.
Theyre both going to ComicCon this weekend, Friday and Saturday I heard, so you might recognize Aaliyah there if youre attending. I think she may be dressed in a Sailor Moon outfit *shudder*. (But don't say 'hi' as she'll have no idea what you're talking about with SG.)
As for me, Ive been checking out this new dating site and its been pretty exciting. Im very camera-shy, if anyone on SG has noticed and I also need to write a profile. Unlike most people on these sites, I take profile writing very seriously aswell, I take writing in general seriously and Im a fairly deep person, so much so that it takes people a long time to figure out who I am. If this was a Vampire:The Masquerade character sheet, Id be a caregiver/builder type with a hero concept. This is not who I WANT to be. This is who I observed that I am. Id rather be a badass/heartbreaker type who has all of the fun and never gets hurt but thats not how Im wired.
One more thing, thanks to Porphyria for your kind and sincere advicewish you were single, girl, but very happy for you that youre happy.
Also, this weekend I helped my former best gal pal IRL move away. I think Ive lost her as a friend as well as ever since shes found a guy hundreds of miles away, shes been ignoring me for the most part as a friend. We talk but she never says much. I think it was this lost confidant that caused me to make major changes in SG. But at the same time, Im relieved too as she was super-high maintenance, which Im wired to handle but still
SG stuff
Im still having fun although I think the heat is causing people to be a little bit less active on the site. Things are great and so are you, my friends.
You all probably know this but, my profile tends to attract people who Ive never talked to ever. I have a tendency to just confirm all friends requests and then I let the person get to know me while making an effort to know them as well. Many people often just want to be friends with Rorschach and not me, John. Lately, Ive been purging those people.
BUTlately Ive been getting friends requests from people who want to get to know ME and just take the Rorschach thing as just some part of ME, rather than a comic book character. When I get a new friend like that, I get the same feeling as when I discover the first issue of some new comic book I bought two years ago for cover price and forgot about is now worth like $30 bucks. I get that feeling when I buy a box of cards for $60 bucks and hit some super-longshot card that books for $500. the same feeling when I line up for concert tickets and someone in our group gets the wristband for the first or second spot in line. I feel super-lucky! Thank you to Kemper, piratehookerrr, Vivid and Rosalilly for making me feel just like that. Ill try my best to be worthy of that friendship.
And thank you to those friends I already have, especially the GGS (Girl Geek Squad) for giving me a reason to be on SG at all. The GGS is just a list of sexy and geeky girls on my SG Friends List that I routinely try to send packages to in order to promote and nurture their inherent geeky nature. (Luv u all!)
I still miss the friend I mentioned that I said goodbye to last journalmiss her terribly. But all said, I made a very tough decision. Its helluva lot easier to deal with though with so many other friends on SG stepping up and so many new friends just making me feel great. After splitting my attention on the RL gal pal that moved away and the SG friend I said goodbye to, I now have energy and resource to befriend like a dozen other people somehow.
Ok, thats all for now. I need to remind myself to pick up some rechargeable batteries so that I can use my camera for once at the show.

PS - Oh, one last thing...I'm trying to plan a surprise thing...a big surprise thing...but it's at the seat of my pants...wish me luck!
