Last night I got spend an evening with my friend Angela so we could just talk...about life, her cancer and anything we wanted to talk about. It was a night that I had been waiting to do with her for some time. Last year we had something divide us for most of the year and I had just made amends with her. About a week later BAM! There was the news of the cancer.
So we went out for ice cream and sat outside to eat it. Wouldn't you know that another couple came up and sat next to us and busted out some cigarettes. I wouldn't typically care but it's a touchy subject when you're staring at your friend that now has a bald head covered with a bandanna because of cancer. Granted it that smoking wasn't the cause but it does heighten your senses a bit. She's the kind of friend that talks about anything and everything. I learned a whole lot about the process of chemo and the gross parts of being in the hospital. Some were really yummy and really don't belong in conversation while eating ice cream but what the hell!
Later she had a craving for some chai so we went around the corner to the Starbucks in the grocery store. She bought this round. If you haven't had the orange mocha frappes then save some time and skip it! It's not enough orange flavor to make the drink good and yummy. Once again we went outside to drink em' up. Once again a guy came and sat at the table next to us to smoke. Yikes! We just can't win!
Before I came over she had asked me if I could bring my elephant thong for a picture. My wife allowed the elephant to come out of retirement just for her, amazing stuff! I posed like a round card girl at a boxing match except this was done for her chemo rounds and I wore the elephant thong over bicycle shorts. My wife is not that generous! Angela's hubby was on the computer when I came down for the picture so I pressed the little tune button in the trunk just to see if he would turn and look. He did! I harassed him about checkin' my goods meanwhile Angela was grabbing my ass. She couldn't resist the spandex.
I will possibly put up pictures when I get them. Though I'm redoing them tonight because the elephant is black and the shorts were too. So you can't really see the elephant very well. My wife is taking the pictures this time! Sweet!!!!
It's was just a fun night to be around Angela while she is on an up day.

Man, that's rough. My mother beat breast cancer when I five or six. It certainly wasn't easy to come to terms with the fact that my mother might die, especially when I was so young. The whole ordeal was really traumatic for the whole family. My best wishes to your friend.
