So, it's been a little while. Here's the rundown:
Graduated with a B.A. in Classical Studies.
My gpa didn't slip a bit (double woot woot from the woohoo train!).
Quit McAlisters.
Didn't get an assistantship for next year.
Working on a tutoring position.
Graduate school starts a week from today.
The plan is an M.A. in Comparative Literature from UA, then on to Harvard or a university in Paris that Heffernan is trying to slip me into.
Didn't walk at graduation. Came down to see some family instead. Shayla (a cousin) was so excited about getting her B.A. She cried a lot and thanked me for letting the whole family be there for her (including me). She promises a great party in Fayetteville when I get my M.A. Boys, back off. She may be hot, but she's married!
Got just enough money to cover next month's rent. (triple woot woot)
Went out with Naela Friday night and Saturday morning. The events included dinner, a dueling piano bar, lunch (complete with mafia fued, no kidding), and a walk around the Dallas Museum of Arts. She still rocks. Maybe even more than she used to. Awesome girl.
Still haven't talked to Cas. I miss her. A lot. Someone told me that she had surgery last week. If anyone knows how she's doing, please let me know. The girl needs a break. This year was hell for her.
Grilling steaks with Nic (another cousin) tonight. Haven't seen him since his wedding. Very excited to see him, his gorgeous wife (childhood chum, insert small world music), and his new digs.
Doug and I are going to shop for poetry slam venues on Friday. First stop is the UA clubs office. I'm going to start a club and try to reserve the UA theatre 2-4 times a month for open mics. Slams to be held either at RZs or an off-campus location.
Got myself signed up for National Poetry Slam volunteering.
Haven't really spoken with anyone but Matt and Derek since classes let out. Seems like a new group of friends is being ushered in. Tired of the drama. Ready for adult conversation.
Went out on Don's new boat last Friday. Helped him fix a few things on it Saturday. All in all, good buy. Might be down a few times to see Naela and get out on the water.
Miss Mighty Mike bunches. May have to call him when I get back to Fayetteville and touch base.
Writers' group seems to be plausible. Derek and Matt expressed interest. I hope to get together with them and figure out what we all want out of the group and such in early July.
I think that's it for now. Peace.
