Ok, I've used my new camera & lens in a few different environments, and I think I'm happy with it. I started last Saturday during our 15 minutes of sunshine by shooting some flowers downtown. I really liked the results of that...

Then I went to Rayn so I could see how well the camera focuses in the dark. It gave me some nicely crisp images and even at ISO 1600, they aren't too grainy.

Then I did a shoot at my house so I could see how things looked under bright studio lighting. I just used 1 strobe for these.

After shooting at the house for a while, we walked over to the State Capitol building for some night shots. There are some street lights around, but we were pretty much standing in darkness, and the camera did a nice job of focusing on her.
I didn't want to deal with a tripod, so I shot at ISO 800 with the lens wide open at 2.8. The images aren't too grainy at 800, so I was pleased with that. I don't know if I"d shoot a SG set at 800, but for this purpose, it worked out perfectly.
