I just walked over to the Capitol building to take some pictures. There are flower gardens in front of the House and Senate buildings, so I thought I'd try out the new camera and see how things look.
I have to say, I love the blur that this lens makes. My old lens had a nice blur, but in the reviews I read about this particular lens, I saw lots of example shots that I liked. Now I've made some of my own!
The rose shot is zoomed all the way out with an F-stop of 9. My old lens wouldn't give much blur at 9, but this one completely wiped out the background
This one is the same focal length as the rose shot (70mm) with an f-stop of 6.7. I backed up a bit so I could catch the surrounding purple buds, and the lens did a nice job with it. It almost looks like a painting. And kudos to the lens for keeping the flower's stamen crisp and clear.
This one was f-8 because I didn't want to completely wipe out the purple flowers in the background.
And lastly, a statue back behind the Capitol building. It's part of a fallen officer's memorial that was put up a few weeks ago.
Tomorrow I"m shooting with real human beings, so we'll see how that goes. If I'm happy with the results, then I have my camera complete and it'll be time to get back to shooting with Sheyva. Heck, it's been a month. We can't have that now, can we?
