i saw the worst so-called comedy show of my life last night. it was an improv gig by 'the really spontaneous theatre company' in burbank. NEVER go to this show. we left after 45 minutes during the middle of the show. i tried to wait until the intermission, but we just couldn't take another excruciating second of it. we didn't crack a smile once, and neither did most of the people in the half-full theater. a few chuckled a couple times, but probably only because they really wanted for it to be funny.
i had planned to go to the groundlings, but decided to try something new when i saw this show advertised as the LA weekly pick of the week. clearly that pick is from a long time ago, in a land far, far away. i checked the LA weekly for this week and the show is not this week's pick and is not even listed at all. by looking at the cast listing, it appears that all of the experienced comedians had the night off and all the people who break all the rules of improv were present last night to torture the audience. and the worst part is i suspect they just might have sucked some of the funny right out of me.
(note to self: never try anything new.)
after that we saw eternal sunshine of the spotless mind to cleanse our tainted souls with some actual entertainment. such a good movie.
tonight i think we're gonna hit up the downtown standard and tomorrow a loft party at my friend's place.
so if any of you LA peeps want to come out to play either night, just let me know. and here's the loft party info.

-I so should have gone to that party later in my friday, even if I did have a decent time doing what I did.
