mlk day yesterday. somehow the holidays just aren't as exciting when i already don't work. i did get up early, but just to meet a friend for breakfast. then i went with her to a check cashing place, which was a lovely new experience for me. LAs finest were out bright and early, but not because they woke up early. these were the fine folks who had not yet been to bed. hey, i've been there, but this is a different breed entirely. one particularly pissed-off woman walked in and screamed "bitch" 4 times as loud as she could at nobody in particular and for no apparent reason. Then 10 minutes later she was laying face down on the sidewalk laughing hysterically. i'm thinking that instead of all those public service announcements (eg this is your brain on drugs) they should just take a camera crew to one of these delightful establishments. america's misguided youth will surely be scared straight quite quickly. other than that i just studied and then last night went out with some friends to the Abbey. that's always a good time - until i had to get up at 7am for school this morning. oh well - i do it to myself every week.

and tonight i get to study some more. yeah!!! i'm trying to compensate for my last 2 weeks of being a slacker because i have some wicked tests coming up next week. so perhaps i should stop wasting time here...maybe...
