In 2027 the Christian and Muslims extremists and fundamentalist decided to finally come together and attack a common enemy. That being the secular culture. The first targets that came to mind, as stated in intel found when it was all over, where France, the UK, or the United States. France was nothing compared to the US or the UK and the UK was a puppet for the US. So that is where they hit. It was not a dirty bomb or suitcase nuke that they first hit us with like everyone though it would be. They where smarter then that. They played on the fear of an American public that was more likely, even in an age of homophobia, to elect a gay president then an atheist president. First over many years they slowly created an ideal in the minds of the public that atheists and secular types had no morals and no sense of right and wrong. They where evil. Something to be scared of and feared. They faked crimes and bombings and shootings in the name of atheism. They created a false war, the atheist versus the believers. People where galvanized into action. A modern witch hunt was started and this time it was the free thinkers and scientist that where the target. At first it was small and isolated groups of people hunting down the heathens. But that all changed when they elected Kirk Carmon to be president. It was a landslide victory. He promise to end these "Dark Ages". He argued that in these dark times atheist and secular crimes could only he halted by a strong will and faith. A rock, he said, to lean on. And that rock was him. 75% of the country voted for him.
