This impending war with Iraq is really bothering me. Just as much the fact that MAYBE Saddam has chem-bio-nuke weapons and wants to use them on us, but that NO ONE around me in Vegas is at all concerned.
I mean, yes, he probably isn't capable of rocket-launching a nuke anywhere near the Eastern Seaboard, but what if he has agents in the country right now ready to blast us with deadly diseases, spray us with deadly VX or set the timer on a suitcase nuke the second we strike Iraq?
I mean, DOESN'T ANYONE CARE? Is everyone trying to la-la-la this thing out, as if it'll just go away? Wars aren't just pop-gun affairs in trenches anymore, kiddies. The future is now and people are gonna find new ways to fight em. Hit em in the civilian sector, where they least expect it.
I've been battling with the thought that this could become Apocalyptic for the US, but with September 11th coming up it has occured to me how LITTLE it has changed us. People are still self-serving, backstabbing, fuck-you-and-get-out-of-my-way BASTARDS to each other. No God Bless America stickers and American flags and gay red white and blue clothes and going to church and lighting a candle for those who perished in the WTC attacks, none of that means a damn thing if you're cutting people off on the highway, bitching about what your girlfriend's saying about you, stabbing people in the back, smuggling corporate funds under the table, and generally being an All-American Category-Five Prick ANYWAY. It all means NOTHING. You're lying to yourself and we're lying to ourselves and we're lying to the world.
September 11th didn't change us. We treated it like the movie Titanic: it moved us and made some of us cry, but a year later it really didn't mean a damn thing to us and didn't change who we are.
Many of the people in this country, right up to the President of the United States, make me sick. We almost deserve another attack, and that is what make sme sad, because it probably will happen, and we probably will go to war, and there will be a lot of good, honest people who end up dying for all this because of the selfish wants of a dictat-ER-president and his cabinet and the anger of extremist muslims brought about by our selfish, wasteful, self-serving Capitalist elitist ways.
If I wasn't a jaded Catholic turned atheist, I'd pray to the Lord, or SOMEBODY. All I can do is keep my head up and keep going, and hope this whole sordid affair sorts itself out one deadly way or another.
