Everything went reasonably right once I got off work.
Backtracking, work pissed me off today because I spent 7 hours consecutive, save for lunch, making copies at the copier and pulling Purchase Orders. This really pissed me off because I had to go after work, drive home, then to school, walk down University Avenue, down Maryland Parkway to Harom, cross Harmon, then walk across the campus to my first class, do class, then walk across a field to another building for another class, then wlak across the campus in darkness back to Harmon, across and down Maryland Parkway and down University Avenue back to my truck without getting mugged. ALL OF THIS without cramping up. I was pissed at having to stand at the copier for 7 hours straight.
If this next paragraph confuses you at any point, go ahead, skip to the next one, and ask me to clarify later. Our de facto head A/R girl pulls me into the showroom and drops a bombshell. NO, SHE IS NOT IN LOVE WITH ME, GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SOAPS! Apparently our very personable and fellow A/R girl is not doing her job very well, letting accounts fall behind and such and is holding Head A/R girl up on her own work because she has to help her. Therefore, since Head A/R girl is the de facto department supervisor, she's gonna have this other girl fired when the Big Boss from Michigan comes in. And she wants me to stick around and basically do what I'm doing now, except I'll be a long-term part of the A/R Department. Bit of a shell shock, given how good of friends Head A/R and the other girl are, but business comes first for Head A/R Girl, and she'd pull the trigger on her own mother.
So I'm lassoed in, I suppose. ALL THIS I'm told five minutes before my shift is over. Geez! It just gets more and more f*cked up in cabinet land every week. And I AGREE to keep coming back?! This must be my quota of crazy shit.
Ahem, once I got off work, everything got better. MY CHECK ARRIVED! HAHA!! No more petty waiting. I took it to the bank immediately and dealt with the requisite red tape before depositing it and walking out with the $500 for my books. I got to University Avenue at 5:00, got to the bookstore (minimal lines!) and was able to buy ALL of my books before my first class at 5:30!
Business 102, Monday and Wednesday class, will be harder than I thought, but I can live with a challenge. Hell, this is BULLSHIT compared to life at the cabinet company. Professor Kaplan is a smartass and a jerk. I LOVE HIM ALREADY! I shall relish the first time he verbally attacks me in class. The over/under is offically set at 4 1/2 weeks.
I'm not even being sarcastic. Asshole professors are great! Kids are spoiled and they deserve to have the hammer dropped on them. I will enjoy watching this guy pick this class of freshmen business majors apart.
Calculus is okay. Our professor is a big dork (as math professors often are) but he's alright. Highlight: he had no idea how to do something with his TI-82 and I ended up HELPING HIM OUT! My memory is better than I thought; I haven't touched one of those in 5 years. I grasped several of the basic concepts easily, but some will need work, which is better than I thought I'd be doing. I think I will survive, even though we covered six sections in two hours! My neck's still sore from the whiplash. Odd note: I'm the only non-upperclassman in the class, and 35 of the 40 kids in class are guys. Big, hulking guys. Since when did football players have to take Calculus? Some wholesome European girl sat next to me, making us the only women in the front row. BA-DUM!
(Note to strangers, retards, and/or Business 102 classmates: I am male. That last part was a joke. Read the last two sentences again if necessary. It WILL be on the test.)
AND I DIDN'T GET MUGGED. School is fun so far. I relish going from scared to excited in teh span of 1 minute after I got my check.
More to come as it develops.

sumgirl, y'alright? I don't think you'll be headhunted if you say whatcha gotta say. Issues? Discuss. Send an e-mail if you're feeling TOO self-conscious.
