Okay, so here I am, February looming and promising to overwhelm me completely with midterms and my Honours research (gotta present my prelim results at a conference and give another presentation, and start writing my thesis), and yet I find myself going back to the Witcher 2 every little chance I get.
The Witcher 2 is so immersive and, as much as I enjoy the rest of my life, all I want to do is play it right now...I have a long way to go in my first playthrough, but I am right addicted to it, no question about it. Friggin' school: since I've been in uni, I've bought so many games on Steam I haven't even played yet, the most notable of which is Skyrim. I will start playing that as soon as I finish The Witcher 2, but right now I am content playing that, and going back to Catherine on my PS3 now and then...
So I've bought these games a while back, among others, that I haven't even played yet on Steam:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Fable 3
Fallout 3
Magicka
BioShock 2
There are about 15 more I have never played, but those are the ones I really want to play when I graduate.
BUT, MOST IMPORTANTLY, tell me this:
Is it just me, or is 2012 going to be a SICK YEAR for gaming, ESPECIALLY PC gaming?!? I mean, I got a PS3 recently, which I got solely for Catherine, and there are a few PS3 games I am looking forward to, but I am especially looking forward to some sick titles on the PC as well. And I've got my beast of an Asus Republic of Gamers (hence my nickname ROG21 on this website) laptop to play games, so between my amazing PC and my PS3, here are the games that I am looking forward to this year, and I CANNOT BELIEVE all the sick games that are on the horizon:
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Soul Calibur V
Resident Evil 6
Diablo III
Borderlands 2
The Last Guardian
Guild Wars 2
The Last of Us
Bioshock Infinite
Can you friggin' believe this insane lineup of games?!? I mean, I will have to take a year off from school just so I can go and play all these games, that's how sick it is....okay, I will actually go to grad school next year, but still, I think the gaming of 2012 will completely take over the rest of my life...AND, AND AND AND AND AND....most of all, I am extremely anxious for this game: The Kingdoms of Amalur: the Reckoning. Is anyone else out there dying to start playing this game, or am I the only one? There's something about an action-RPG that just gets to me, especially one that is said to have sick gameplay and an immersive storyline with unprecedented depth...and apparently you can change your character development path entirely at any point in the game by re-allocating all of your points on different abilities, how sick is that? And I can't wait to try the smithing option and craft me some sick weapons and armor!
I hope everyone is half as excited as I am for this year of gaming, because I think this year will be the tits! Please tell me if there's anything on the PC and/or PS3 that I must add to my list...as if I don't have enough already!!! I am so behind on 2011's games and before that, and I feel like this year will be so sick that I should go on a video gaming sabbatical, hahaha!
Cheers!
Patty
