My Name is Roderick Carrier, and i am a Soldier in the United States Army. My roommate and close friend is dealing with a serious situation here in Iraq. We are both stationed in Balad Air Force Base (FOB). My roommate is currently dealing with his mother's failing health, as she is in need of a major surgery to replace her hips. He has received several Red Cross Messages, to return home to be able to be there for his mother, and to care for her in her time of recovery. However our Unit 2-17th Cavalry, 101st Aviation Division, Air Assualt is not allowing my roommate to leave. It would appear that we are too close to returning home and they will not release him early so that he can arrive in time for his mother's surgery. With little time to adjust and to try to rectify his situation he is shot down, and told no that he will not be able to return home to aide, and be there for her.
I am writing to ask for your help, to both make your readers aware, and to seek out some type of answers for his current situation.
Thank You.
Sincerly,
SPC Roderick Paul Carrier Jr.
This was a message i sent to the Hartford Courant wich is a local newspaper wich is where both myself and my roommate are from CT. Maybe it's about time that CT has finally done something right for one of it's own. i suppose we'll see.
