Ok, made it to see RotS last night.
Capsule Review (with spoilers, sorta?)
The opening scene was INCREDIBLE - I gotta see that on a IMAX screen - I may go see it again JUST for the first however long that is. Whoa! Altho Lucas's idea of how war toys are going to develop are baroque to say the least .
The middle exposition/character development is good - I dunno what I was expecting - I guess I got it. Palpatine sets up everyone and Scores HUGE!
The end light-sabre battles are alot of fun. It's kinda sad to see poor Anny get sucked in so totally and still fail at the one thing he REALLY wanted, and all because he was so totally set on preventing it. Oh well, just goes to showya, if you're a Jedi, you GOTTA let go! (well, i'm thinking it's a good thing in life too but hey ).
The POV discussion right before the lava bath was a bit amusing. Especially considering Luke really did sorta follow along the Jedi path right up to Windu attempting to kill the Palpatine (a non-jedi but pragmatic thing) which really sort of pushed him over the edge - all those parallels and all .
Yaknow, they could have skipped the next three movies if Obiwan had actually DONE what he was supposed to do unstead of trusting the lava to do his job for him?
Anyway - I did think it was sorta amusing watching the Obiwan character do all those Alec Guiness moves, and the very last bit about communing with the dead (forshadowing Obi talking with luke after HE died) was a nice "ahhh!" thing too.
And I'll skip the parallels between what Palpatine did and some of what I see going on in the US just cuz I'm gonna be one of those people that bitches and never does anything anyway, so I won't even bitch.
I didn't make the school picnic (it was inside and there was a billion parents including my wife and mom-in-law so no room for separation) but I did go to the Kindermusik graduation - that was nice. It was crowded too but I was mosting shooting video (not really worth it but I shot some) and taking pictures so I was not in harms way, as it were.
