Thought I'd post something different for a change .
I was thinking about Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, and all the old "guitar gods" and other folks like that this morning - and wondering where they'd be today.
Jimi I hope and pray would still be on the cutting edge of guitar heroness - he deserves that, yaknow? get passed the drug stuff (nothing wrong with drugs, btw, but it's who's in charge ) and just PLAY! I picture a big arena tour with Jimi, Eddie Van Halen and an opening act of lesser guitar heros jammin, with a final "Let Jimi Take Over" jam at the end. Stellar!
And then there's Clapton - even tho he's still selling millions of albums and selling out big arenas I sorta feel since Derik and the Dominos and his first few solo albums he's coasting. Mind you, he's got a big ass chunk of talent to coast on, and at his age now he deserves it, but I dunno - I don't think he's innovated for years. I could be wrong, I couldn't bring myself to buy his last albums but - anyway.
And what about Duane Allman? Imagine Duane in the current Allman Brothers lineup - OMG, my hair stands on end from the goosebumps!
Anyway - I'm nowhere near current on guitar players so if anybody passing thru has any ideas about who I should listen to to catch up, let me know
