I've been really not up to anything outstanding from a journal post - not much going on in my life and what is is sucking my brain dry which makes it hard to come up with something exciting .
Anyway - I do want to say - Malice and Kovu's set was especially hot - then again I'll admit to being fond of Kovu so I'm abit prejudiced .
I'm thinking of starting a new career anyway - maybe I should become a photographer? anybody want me to take their picture? lol...
Na, I'll never be as good as Oryx or katblue - maybe I'll just become a programming laywer or something .
For Sky:
1: Gypsy Soul - Promises and Lies - I got this from MP3.com when MP3.com was cool - Sorta reminds me of my life .
2: Ann Marie Morgan - Premiere Suite (In d Minor) La Cottin (Antoine Forqueray) - from her album Among Rosebuds - Ann Marie is one of the worlds GREAT viola de Gamba players (look it up and her too ) and a helluova nice person to boot. it sorta makes me sad cuz I haven't give her any money lately so she can't record new stuff.
3: The Grapes Of Wrath - Seems Like Fate - I remember seeing these guys playing in a little club in Fells Point (Maxes on Broadway when it was still just Maxes) and then tracking down their CD. Cool stuff. One of my friends was opening for them which is the only reason I went at all.
4: Rush - Natural Science - ok, I guess this qualifies as 70s progrock?
5: Emmylou Harris - Blackhawk - This is just a cool song and makes me think of things I could have been...
6: Emmylou Harris - Deeper Well - ok, that wasn't at random but I LOVE this song....
7: Mountain - Back where I belong - geez, this song ROCKS . It does sorta show what rock stars do when they don't have anything to write about - they write about the songs they wrote and going home .
8: Mountain - Nantucket Sleighride (that WAS at random) - Felix Papalardi was a genius and altho is wife was f'n insane they did write cool songs . Another of my favorite songs... The guitar work in this song is amazing - you wouldn't know leslie was capable of being so subtle . Altho - if I play "air 'something'" to this it'd be air bass, in honor of Felix if nothing else (well, except for that ONE little guitar fill - riiight -- THERE! )
9: Mary Jane Lamond - Mo Ghille Mr Foghain/Each - Celtic Mouth Music. Sorta like programmed loops but with real instruments and voices. Cool! Makes me smile cuz my son useta groove to this when we drove .
10: Holly and the Italians - Fanzine - Ever wonder where seminal rockstars go when they stop being seminal? Is she working at McDonalds or in a record store being bitter or?? lol
11: Mary Black: Beautiful - Sky Ok, just cuz of the title - I don't really have anybody in my life right now that fits the lyrics . Sorta Irish meets Nashville .
12: Steeleye Span - Robbery with Violins - this has a Rockin' wawa'd bassline ... Just goes to show you want you can do with two instruments . it's way to short tho
13: Julian Gray & Ronald Pearl - Johannes Brahms - Op 118, No 2 - Ahhhhh.... (and then I click the "forward" button )
14: Crack the Sky - Little Stinky - well, even the greats can have moments of un-inspiration. OTOH Crack the Sky will be playing this month - I guess I'll haveta go . Click.
15: Helicon - Macedonian/Ceausescu Quickstep - reminds me of all the times I went to see them with my soon-to-be-ex-wife. She used to date the flute player . Another rockin' song tho - if you can say rockin' song about flute/hammer dulcimer and Bouzouki (huh - didn't know Fender MADE bouzoukis!)
16: "Hank Wilson" (Leon Russell) - Rollin' in my sweet baby's arms - any body wanna be my sweet baby?
17: Sue Richards - Lament for Coire an Easa/The Hazel Grove - Glad I made it to the Ren. Festival this year . I bought this CD at a REn Fest. afew years ago. More Celtic music - Harp this time tho.
18: Steeleye Span - 700 Eleves - WinAmp must be in a Celtic mood .
19: Glenn Miller - Jukebox Saturday Night - lol - my son loves Glenn Miller too .
20: AC/DC - Get it Hot - ok, go out with a bang! My brothers band used to play this. Aside from the ringing in my ears I sorta miss those days - work all day, grab him and his bass, drive him to the gig and sit out drinking cheap beer and boogieing once I'd drunk enough not to care .
21: Gypsy Soul - Can't go Home - I know I was only supposed to do twenty but since it so nicely circled back to the beginning I had to put it down .
Got that from Sky - if you wanna do it fire up your MP3 player and play the first 20 songs at random - list them and what it makes you think about or whatever .

It's easy, no one blames you. It's that world out there that's fucked you. You're no less of a person and if God exists, He still loves you.
If you have a downloading agent I strongly recommend it.
