Fine frikken weekend. My best mate came to visit from New Hampshire on Friday night. We have been very close friends for the last 8 or so years. After I left Boston, we have been able to hang out at least once a year or so. Typically I would go to New England to visit. This was the second time he came to wherever I happened to be.
It turned out to be a pretty low key visit. We drank a lot of beer, played a little pool and a lot of World of Warcraft all weekend.
Many of my friends have lived in the same town for most of their lives. They have friends that they have known for ages that they either still hang out with on the regular, or still see from time to time. My lifestyle over the past decade hasn't availed me those type of relationships. My friend Ross is about all I have in that regard. Who knows how we ended up sticking together for so long. A good 90% of my stories about the debauchery, intoxication and general mischief of the early part of my twenties involve this dude.
Now we both have careers, and he has a wife and two kids. How on earth did I manage to escape the responsibility of that sentence? It is based solely on the fact that I can't manage to stay still for more then a year or two.
It was great to hang out with this guy on my turf. Although I think he had trouble with the fact that he had no responsibilities while he was here. We had a damn blast, but it seemed like he was continuously worried about the state of his job and family, back home.
The airport closings yesterday didn't help much either.
Hey, do this.
