I'll stare the sun down until my eyes go blind, but I won't change direction and I won't change my mind.
Starting this entry off with a PJ lyric (from one of my all time favorite songs that I literally almost came when they played last time I saw em). I'm really looking foward to seeing them when they tour the US, even though they haven't even announced they are touring the US yet. My 10 Club member # is 205xxx and they give out the tickets based on seniority and tons of fan club members come to NYC shows so I'm unfortunatly not going to be anywhere near the front most likely, although I am guaranteed a ticket as a fan club member. I'm going to save up to go to multiple shows. So with any luck I'll hit all the shows in NYC then if they play Long Island or Jersey I'll hopefully have the money to go to those and then PA they usually play a few shows in so I'll see if I can actually find people to milk the money off of to get to those. I really wish I could afford to buy tickets to the Canadian tour which is taking place in September, but even though I could probably come up with the cash for the ticket (actually you gotta buy them by the pair but I'm sure I could sell the other one off) there's no way I can afford a trip to Canada.
In other news I found out there may be a way to get the city to pay for a film class for me. I still don't believe in film school, but there are fundamental mechanics that if I'm ever going to get paid I have to know. So apparently the city will pay for a class at the New York Film Academy. I'm going to the agency tomorrow to take an orientation thingy then as far as I understand I gotta meet up with someone else and hopefully they'll give me the cash for the class. Its $2500 so there's no affording it on my own. I've also been thinking about taking classes at NYU in a non-degree program just to learn the stuff I need, but that course costs close to $8000. I asked my parents who said they'd pay it (of course they won't give me that much cash as an investment in my movie and what I've already taught myself is way more than that $20,000 a semester they would be shelling out for college.) but they don't have the money right now so I'll have to wait till about September when they should be giving the course again.
Also I'm interviewing on Thursday for another intern position. Film is about 2 things: connections and experience and I need both so interning is really the only way to do that. Hell even with experience no one in the film industry wants to pay you, unless you're talking Hollywood type stuff. I enjoy production work so much that even doing it for absolutly nothing makes me incredibly happy. I think about the choices I've made and realize that had I gone the other course and gone to college and gotten a good paying "regular" job I wouldn't be happy at all. Even though I still live with my parents and I'm broke, when I get to create and help create and do what I love everything is better.
