OMG ...i still can't believe how busy i have been, if anything it is getting worse / more hectic, but i am having more and more fun as everything just seems to fall into place.
so ...to continue on the "hot-streak" of lots of things i am doing ...here it goes.
Last weekend was quite massive. Thursday night saw me go into the valley and to the Indie Temple with Beckie for some local live music. Nothing special, but we did manage to win the lucky door prize ( 2 double passes to see a band named The Nancies and a free pitcher / jug of bourbon / rye and coke for the following night). WOW ....free gig and free booze, shame we already had plans for Friday night and given that Beckie is straight edge and I am currently not drinking .....yeah, but it was still exciting to win something.
Friday night saw Beckie and I travel into the valley again, but this time to The Rev to catch some local hardcore. What a night. Knifefight Opus and The Amity Affliction were both releasing an EP. Mourningtide and Against also played. Infront what was close to a sellout all bands played and sounded awesome. It is pleasing to see the local hardcore scene growing stronger and stronger. ranstarr was there at The Rev too, but we missed eachother...so maybe next time.
Saturday night saw me head firstly to The Mustang Bar in the valley to watch some of the New Zealand All-Blacks V British Lions Rugby union. After that the crew headed to Dooley's for a game of pool and some fun. I then took it upon myself to attack the duke-box.
Songs i selected were:
Utah Saints : Something Good
Usura : Open Your Mind
The Sharman : Ebineeza Good (*sp)
Urge Overkill : Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon
Supergroove : Can't get enough, and
Snow : Informer
(i seriously did)
I do enjoy early 90's music and early 90's was what i felt like so i thought, why not. It was sort of funny watching drunk people dancing to Informer, ....really quite funny when you think that it was only 8.30pm at that stage.
After Dooley's it was time for a quick drive to the Normanby on the other side of down/town Brisbane to meet up with my best mate Michael for his birthday. Chris, Sarah and Steve accompanied me on the trip and there we met with Michael and James. It turned into a random night as i met up with 3 people from school i hadn't seen for years, and in addition to that i ran into 2 girls from university that i hadn't seen for 2 years. ....It was quite a random night .....All that happened before 10pm. James then gave me a lift home and i went straight to bed as i had to be up at 7.30 to drive to the Gold Coast to play football.
I was named for football on an extended reserves list and was notified upon arrival at the ground that i would be playing ....YAY ....
Joy soon turned to anguish as i was only given 6 total minutes of time on the field. ... It was still better than not playing though
After football i made my way home and then got ready to go and see Mudvayne play at The Arena in the valley. The guys were excellent, and the crowd was huge. I have never seen The Arena so full for a gig. It was hot in there ...the ceiling was dripping and the balcony decided to spray the pit with fire hoses ....incredible to see. Truly a great show, i thoroughly enjoyed it.
Monday was rather uneventful, but Rachel did come and spend the night with me. It was really good to just "chill" for a night and watch some tv and enjoy a good hug.
Now Tuesday ..... I had nothing planned for Tuesday and did nothing significant during the day. I had a night of paperwork and bass practice planned and then all of the sudden i got a phonecall. It was Monika from fasterlouder.com.au she was calling to tell me that i had been approve to review the Team Sleep gig at The Arena ...the only problem was; it was on that night and doors opened in 60 minutes. ....no worries though, i quickly got ready, called Erythrocitez (i had me + 1 on the door) and headed in. Inside i met up with amobia and a group of his friends.
I don't think i have witnessed a show as good as what i witnessed last night. Chino Moreno (Deftones) led Team Sleep perfectly and the atmosphere in the room was one that needed to be seen to be believed.
After the show i headed home, wrote my review and went to bed.....
Which brings me to today ....
I am getting a hair cut in about 90 minutes......
Then going to football training.....
Then tonight i am going to see Shihad with James at the Albany Creek Tavern
Tomorrow night i am going to see Shihad again with James, but this time at The Waterloo Hotel.
Then Saturday night it is off to Suncorp Stadium (AKA Lang Park) with a crew to see Australia V France in an international Rugby Test match....Can't wait
Would write more, but i must go ...time to look for a job
Still going Strong
3 1/2 months drug free
1 month caffeine free
2 1/2 weeks alcohol free....
Life is fun once again...
.....ROCK.....
