You know what I miss about dating?
The thrill of getting ready before the first date, sure you think "only girls get like that" but I'm gonna be honest with you from my point of view as a guy. I felt the thrill, I loved the thrill...this thrill I talk about starts from the moment you approach her to ask if she wants to go on this date, that might be the peak of the thrill for some, but lets not forget the following steps of the dating ritual. The getting ready; taking a shower, perhaps a more throughout shower than you are used to in case you might get lucky, a nice shave, the using of "that special cologne for special occasions" sure you dont want to smell like a caveman, although some girls might like that, so perhaps in that case you skip this step.
Choosing the right clothes and the eternal battle of what impression must I give: the casual down to earth, the careless relaxed dude, the well dressed and educated, the dangerous with a leather jacket...And do notice that I'm not talking about putting up appearances or masks because in the end they are all facets of the same person.
And alas, you are standing on her doorstep with your heart beating at a thousand revolutions per minute as you do a nervous check of your breath just in case you still smell like Carne Asada
...And you knock on the door and here comes a momentary panic attack that lasts from the moment you knocked on the door and the moment she opens the door and your jaw drops to the floor because she looks flawless and you are obviously not supposed to date girls this hot and you should probably be at home in front of the playstation.
Well the date starts as you drive to wherever you planned (because asking for a date without a vague idea of where to take her, is a sin my friends) The ride seems too quiet for your taste and your brain struggles to think what sort of music would be appropriate at this moment. You dont want her to think you are THAT uneducated in music, but also you dont want to seem like a music-know-it-all douche who "knew the band before they sold out" So you choose something classic, something everyone can appreciate, anything that was popular a couple decades ago seems to work for everyone. This is the moment when you ask her what music she likes and you tell her if she wants to change the music to anything she might like.
The date goes well and at somewhere around the middle of the date, most of the thrill has passed and you are both comfortable and everything shines. You should have a good idea by now if this might work between you or perhaps not...
The date is at its end and you drive her home, when you park the car comes a decisive moment in which she will indicate her desires and you must not misunderstand anything. She can say bye and leave the car, this can mean the date sucked and perhaps you should cut looses. She could linger in the car a bit, this could lead to conversation or a mild to passionate first kiss, yes the moment you were expecting since you asked her out. Now she says goodnight and leaves, probably mentions she had a good time and she'd like to do it again...or she could invite you in for a cup of coffee...
