Sorry, I subjected you to that, I digress. It's just that earier this week was having a great converstion with a protestor until he asked what I did for a living. I told him I was in the military and he spat on me! Just 10 seconds earlier we were chilling and suddenly he's yelling in my face calling me a "war-mongering cog of the military machine" I'm just tired of people taking out their angst, fear, and ignorance on the lowest tangible abstraction.
Actually, I am quite aware that Saddam was supposed to be a puppet. I'm also aware that US Special Forces trained Bin Laden and how we helped Hitlar into power (I don't know how that guy had everone fooled.) Maybe we should have let well enough alone until either the people of Iraq grew enough balls to rise against Saddam and cry for our help, or Saddam made an actual attack with weapons "he didn't have" It seems that our leader did make an error because most who are fighting against us are not fighting for Saddam, but for Iraq, because of Iraq's history of occupation. I'm sure that is not our leaders' aim, but I can understand how the people would be apprehensive. Unfortunately, now we're just saving face.
Thank you for not "spitting" on me, like someone here did the second he found out I was military. Funny how I was having a normal chat with him and then he was suddenly in my face. Decked him out of principal. But, I am done with these converstions, though I could play Devil's Advocate till I'm blue in the face, there really is no point in it now.
