So tonight I did some coverage photography for a charity event.
Let me start by saying: I hate event photography with a passion. The lighting conditions are almost always terrible. You end up with a crapload of shots of people making horrible faces (unknowingly, mind you), shitty scenery, and you have to be all social to get group shots and so on.
Tonight was no different. The fact that it was unpaid also sucked. Yes, it was a charity event, and for friends, but it just sucked that I got kind of strong-armed into doing the shoot.
So 115 shots in 2 hours, technical problems with my 35mm lens (I'm pretty sure the AF synchro is dead, fuck.) and the aftermath in Lightroom - I kept MAYBE 25-30 shots.
I think it's safe to say, I will not be volunteering for Event Photography stuff in the future. Unless it's paid. But even then I'd have a hard time saying yes.
Sorry for the rant. Just needed to get that off my chest.
