16 more days, and after that, my job will be 'safe' for the holidays at least.
I originally was pretty nervous about it. But now, kind of not. Which is weird.
See, I would actually use it as a springboard to do something different. I dont much care for the "IT" industry anymore. Computers piss me off. I don't like them. So having computers be a critical part of my job makes it worse. (For the record, I used to be the HUGEST computer geek, but 15 years in this industry you start to dislike things)
I'd likely become an industrial electrician. Skilled trades here in Canada are picking up. The existing tradesmen are getting old and starting to retire. But there was a stretch of time where no one bothered to get trained to replace them, and now we're playing catchup. Which is awesome. My friend Nevada works in the Yukon or Northern Alberta, and makes enough in a month of work to be able to take 2 months off (she's an industrial electrician)
So the fact that I could be jobless soon doesnt worry me as much anymore. Plus, if the electrician thing doesn't pan out, I can try to make ends meet as a photographer. I'd LOVE that.
