the house nic and i were planning on perhaps putting an offer was in no means perfect. apparently there was such a basement leakage problem that our realtor described it as a "flowing river." but nic researched sealing a basement, and as far as we could tell it wouldn't be too bad and we could take it off the sales price. it had lots of pros to ease the basement issue, like its size, it's location, and a huge hill behind it perfect for sledding. we were especially fond of this hill.
that is until our realtor found out that jutting from the hill were several oil drums that actively leaking sludge.
that's right. the last occupant was the fucking toxic avenger.
i'm trying not to be upset, but so many things about that house were totally ideal. now we're looking at listings and i keep comparing the House That Sludge Built, and finding them lacking.
i mean really... sludge? for real?

I'm getting anxious about going to look at this neat apartment I found for the same reason. I'm so excited from what I've seen but afraid it'll be a dump.
Good luck with the house search!
