So, I went to the cinema the other day...
'Everest' looked exciting enough in the trailers but I wasn't sure if it would have much depth (it certainly has height!!! taps microphone *is this thing on?*). Little did I know it was based on a true story. And even littler did I know, it wasn't a Stallone-esque action film. Both of these are a very good thing!
The film starts as the main players arrive in Nepal, so there's no messing about, and we dive straight in. Two mountaineering groups run a business where they help climbers reach the summit. We follow their trecks and climbs and general rough times. I'm not going into depth because, well...you know the story; they're climbing Everest.
What I will say is that you need to watch this on IMAX. It's what it was made for! Amazing camera shots, incredible scenery, earsplitting sound. It's edge of the seat stuff. It's gritty, it's real, it's harrowing and heart breaking. I was blown away by this movie. I'm now fascinated by the real story, the real events. That it's based on true events make it all the more emotional and gives it such an impact.
Watch it!
