I visited war-torn Colombia a few years ago and was just reminded of a story I heard from a priest/human rights activist. He was holding a conversation with an American about Colombia's violent political history. The American asked him half-jokingly, "Are there any good people in Colombia?" The priest replied, "Yes, but they don't have guns."

"I hate a song that makes you think that you are not any good. I hate a song that makes you think that you are just born to lose. Bound to lose. No good to nobody. No good for nothing. Because you are too old or too young or too fat or too slim or too ugly or too this or too that. Songs that...

saw your post in the fascism thread... had to back you up a bit. smile

all these fools saying you hate america if you're against any of our wars (on terror, on afghanistan, on drugs, on iraq) are the absolute least intelligent people in the world.

what a bunch of tripe...

someone with half a fucking brain cell can see that our current administration's actions aren't to the present or future benefit of the american people.

but no, these blindly "patriotic" humps just blather on about supporting the troops and agreeing with the president and love it or leave it and osama and saddam and blah blah blah.

they can't grasp the concept of taking a step back to look at history...

to see how we are being set up to take the fall as an evil war-mongering country to be made an example of, like germany after ww2. (when in fact less than a third of its population ever supported the nazi idealogy)

of course, leading to a greater "consolidation of power and wealth into higher, tighter, and righter hands"- George HW Bush..

more steps (leaps actually) towards the holy grail of all the supposedly 'opposing' political factions that have existed in the open for at least the past hundred years~ one world government. control of the many by the few, again..

the new feudalism.

I have still not met a single person in ten different states (outside of the SG boards that is LOL) that truly believes any of the lies and deceptions that have been spoonfed to them via the major media.

these same war war war people don't even read what is written on the boards. or read anything at all past skimming the headlines of their local corporate news conglomerate's offerings.

they see a few keywords in a post or article, and without comprehending what they mean: jump to conclusions, take the words and ideas as a personal attack on them, then lash out at the messenger...

what they also don't realize is that the opinions they are so rabidly espousing are nothing but the subtle (or not so subtle) results of a three year long barrage of current and easily recognizable propaganda techniques and conditioning recieved via televison... owned and operated by the same companies who control the papers, make the arms deals, and foot the bill for someone like the shrub (or Ahhnold) to steal an election.

all of this comes down to another forbidden subject in America, and that would be $$$.. who has it who doesn't and who is going to make more of it by taking it from those less fortunate... in little increments here and there until BAM! manufactured depression.
all the while news stories chiming away about our 'economic recovery' that somehow happened as almost 3 million jobs sailed overseas for good.

yeah yeah yeah, it's all a bunch of conspiracy theories according to these braniacs. even when the evidence is right under their noses.

i wonder why the white house won't turn over their september eleventh documents? hmmmmm september eleventh~ the root of everything that sucks...it must somehow remain fully uninvestigated.

Go here and look at these photos:

http://www.privilogic.com/wordsfail/

Although I'm still saddened to think about the thousands of people who lost their lives two years ago, it saddens me even more that in such a short amount of time we have squandered the sympathy of literally the entire world. Looking at those photos, it's hard to deny that September 11th could have been a huge...

I'm going to halloween as a pirate for probably the third time in my life. If I don't have a show on Nov 1st, I'll go to a party instead and arrive with a mermaid for dramatic effect. umm.. having options with my social life, what a rare thing!

hmmm... I suppose I'll finally pick my favorite Suicide Girls...

Oh my God. I thought my priorities were displaced but someone has just constructed a website to complain about various cafeteria employees at CWRU... here's an excerpt:

You came to work at CWRU/University Hospitals early Monday morning. You cant rely on a shuttle, so you walk the 65 miles from your parking lot through the sleet and rain to your job. You decide to reward...

That's a very depressing song.

About the riots, as I am a pacifist, I pretty much agree with your opinion against violence. However, after the initial tension here died down (which was considerable and unbearable), people became much more polite to each other. I have always been the type to give a "thank you" for the least of service someone might give me, but usually people could care less. Nowadays, though, everone seems to really appreciate the small kindnesses that we are supposed to give automatically.

Other than that, I don't think much has improved as far as the immediate conditions that caused the riots. City council and the Cincinnati police haven't really done much of anything substantial. Oh well, like I really expected any changed to come from that end anyway.

BTW, I wasn't in the middle of the riots when the fellows took their potshot at me. I was just driving on the highway. Downtown was under curfew/martial law. That should give you some idea of how extreme the tension was.

I will be watching for news about your tour.

Adieu,
Jacob
