Not like that 😆...
...THIS !!!
"Starter for Home Brewed Rootbeer"
1-1/2 Cups cold distilled water
4 teaspoons freshly grated Ginger Root
4 Tablespoons Organic Turbinado Sugar
Sterilize a 16 ounce glass container.
Add all ingredients and stir - Loosely Cover (I'm using this vintage EZ Seal Jar w/o the rubber seal ... but covering with a Coffee Filter and rubber band works too)
Leave in a COOL DRY DARK PLACE undisturbed for TWO DAYS.
Gently stir and add 1/2 teaspoon more Ginger and 1 teaspoon more sugar.
Check every FOUR DAYS and repeat above until it becomes dark mahogany colored and thicker. Then it's ready to use in your favorite Fermented Softdrink recipe!
Store remainder "Bug" in the fridge for up to two months adding more Ginger & Sugar every two weeks.
~~~NOTE~~~ If the "Bug" smells flowery or yeasty THAT's GOOD! If it becomes Greenish or Black and smells sour THAT's BAD!!! Dump it and start over - look this is Mother Nature at work and sometimes the chemistry doesn't work out.
I'll post updates and get more into my brewing process as it progresses- CHEERS!!! 🍻
