So, I bought a new camera today, a Nikon D40x, a bit pricier then I really wanted to spend, but it is managing to fulfill my desires with amazing ease. I've never owned a camera of this sort of quality before. I charged up the battery, slapped in my gear, threaded up the neck strap and sprinted out my front door is take a few photos before the sun went down! Here are a few of them straight off the camera (although resized for blog)
And here's once more I took for the self portrait thread.
And black and white, because I'm colorblind and pictures in color always make me nervous!
Update: The show in San Jose went well, I pretty much sat around smiling at fat people for 6 hours telling them about our program. Then I went back to my hotel room, napped, text messaged and then saw resident evil (which was fan-fucking-tastic). Then went back, watched some TV, texted some more and then passed out.

Yeah, I am bad at reading the manuals too. I am exactly the opposite though ~ photographer by trade. The hunt is of upmost interest to me. The computer related stuff not so much. But yeah, the beauty of the digital is that you can fool around with different settings and learn what works/doesn't. Best of luck with it.
