I have some excellent news; my mom has found a job. She used to be vice president of a real estate development company for 20 years before she was diagnosed with her cancer. She has a made a full recovery, and is now working as a controller for a construction company - and she says she is making more money now than she did before.
I am very happy for her. It took her a while to find a job - she interviewed for several, and every time she would get turned down for a job, it would make her a little more and more depressed.
Speaking of depressed...I need to find a job, and am having a difficult time. I am having to withdraw my 401K from my last job.
I would like to get into advertising; it's what I did at my old job (because I took the initiative to start doing it), but it's hard because a lot of the advertising jobs listed on Careerbuilder are pyramid scams. I had an interview on Tuesday for an advertising job. It was brief (like 5 mins) and there were a BUNCH of people being interviewed. I was called back for a second interview (which I was excited about), but then found out that their way of "advertising" is FUCKING GOING FROM DOOR-TO-DOOR.
The second interview I was supposed to be walking around from door to door in the hot Florida sun in a dress, panty hose, and dress shoes for EIGHT FUCKING HOURS! When we stopped for lunch about two hours into it, I told them that I wanted to go back to the office, and the other girl they were interviewing (who was only 17) agreed. Neither of us wanted to work for those assholes.
And check this out...the girl doing the driving said: "Well, I'm not supposed to take interviewees back until 8 o clock at night...but since BOTH of you want to go back, I'll take you. Just promise me that you won't go back into the building." Cause she knew I was pissed and wanted to go back in there and rip those people a new asshole. I promised, but I have already reported the job to Careerbuilder, and am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. What a fucking scam.
During lunch (at Wendy's, which they didn't even offer to fucking pay for), they DID show us how their employment plan works, and it is a pyramid scam - basically the new people go from door to door and lie to people (and most of the people weren't even home), but if you stick with the company long enough, eventually you get to the point where you take a cut from the new people's sales.
Plus, they want you to work 12 hours a day five days a week, plus 4 or 5 hours on Saturday. HELL THE FUCK NO! I have a life - I have friends, family, pets, a boyfriend...there is NO fucking way I am working 64 or 65 hours a week for commission only. Plus, I got some pretty bad chafing between my legs from my panty hose.
So, it's back to the old drawing board for now.
