This weekend, we had a show for an official licensed artist for Graceland, and the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. His name is Joe Petruccio, and he was one of the coolest, nicest artists that we represent. I was very impressed with how down to earth and chill he was.
He offered to paint each of us who work here one of his original watercolor "Rock Angels." All of the ones I had previously seen are artists who have passed on (i.e. John Lennon, Elvis, Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix), but he offered to do any one we wanted.
My co-worker Jauncarlo got Billy Idol (I scanned it and it is currently my profile pic.) It turned out REALLY well. My gallery director wanted a Jim Morrison, which came out really well, too.
You guys are gonna laugh - but I have been a huge Meat Loaf fan since I was 14. I LIKE the dark rock-opera-type songs he does. And instead of angel wings, he has bat wings with flames on the tips. It is super sweet. Actually, he mad me two - one in black and white with red hearts, and one with more colors.
Oh, yeah, and I sold about $4,000 of art this weekend during the show - but to me, the most important thing was hanging out w/Joe and getting my very own original Rock Angel.
Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving, and I'll post again soon!
